If you suspect that someone you know may be accessing or producing child pornography, trust your instincts. Seek further advice and report it.
Being confronted with the possibility that someone you know may be viewing child pornography or you have discovered child pornography on a computer that belongs to someone you know is difficult. It is common for people to think that there must be some mistake, or attempt to downplay the seriousness of what they have seen. Above all else, many people struggle to know what they should do and how they can help.
Child pornography involves the sexual abuse of children. Where there is child pornography, there is an abused child. It doesn't matter how remote or far away that child is. Anyone who looks at, pays for and receives gratification from child pornography is colluding in that child's abuse. It is never 'just looking’. And as long as people continue to view child pornography, regardless of intention, children will continue to be sexually abused.
